The Future of Persistence
Late Talk Mittwoch (12.5.) 19.15 Uhr
Persistence includes long-term data storage in databases, as well as short-term storage of session state and intermediate storage of messages. This talk will explore requirements of persistent data access, focusing on web and application server patterns to deliver services. Some implementation alternatives, including J2EE Container Managed Persistence, JDBC, and Service Data Objects (SDS) will be compared. As the industry moves to a services-oriented model of computing,
several themes emerge as hot topics for discussion: the best techniques
to represent service requests on the Web, present information to users,
and access persistent data. Future extensions being proposed will make
Java Data Objects an even more compelling solution for persistence in
the server tier.
