Beschreibung
Over the last years, the serverless landscape was dominated mainly by platforms with a proprietary development and deployment model like the functions offerings from AWS, Google, Microsoft, or IBM. In parallel, the container revolution changed how we package and run our applications in a standardized and portable way. So it stands to reason to combine both movements to get the best of both worlds. This session gives an overview of the current state of "containerful serverless" platforms like Knative or hybrid offerings as they are, e.g., offered by AWS or other cloud providers. We will elaborate on the strengths and weaknesses of containerful platforms that operate your applications in a serverless way. We are also looking behind the scenes and will look at how some of those containerful platforms (Knative, OpenFaaS, etc.) work technically and how they differ. In the end, you will have a good overview of the current containerful serverless landscape and a clear idea of when to use a containerful approach for your serverless workloads and when not to.
