Have you ever encountered a development team that does not want to increase their code quality? Most of the times these teams struggle on how to get started or even agree on the level of code quality they need. Of course everyone wants to get better, but how can we create a plan that lets us improve without trying to much at once? I want to share some experiences and ideas on how you can – step by step – increase the code quality within your team. This is meant to be a pragmatic and adoptable guideline, as each team has it own specific environment and needs. This talk will include some ideas on how to use code reviews to get started, the difference between coding style guides and coding guidelines, how different pairing methods can help, and how to use tools to improve your life instead of wasting your time.
