The talk gives an overview how LPS uses services from a public cloud for its product Proximity. After a short introduction to the product, the overall architecture of the product – consisting of an SDK for mobile devices, and administrative Frontend and several backend services – will be described.
In the next section some of the backend services and their implementations will be discussed in some more detail. Topics of this part will be – among others – Serverless Computing with AWS Lambda Functions, AWS Elastic Beanstalk and analytics with Kinesis Streams, DynamoDB and Amazon Athena. The third part of the talk will describe some operational aspects, like Infrastructure as Code (using Terraform) and monitoring with AWS Cloudwatch.
